Solutions For Simulation And Optimisation In The Gas Industry
SIMONE SOFTWARE
Special Gases
SIMONE software suite can be used to simulate practically any type of gas transport and distribution network. Currently we have customers that transport the following special gases:
- Hydrogen is a gas that many see as a future of energy sector.
- Carbon Dioxide is being taken from air to offset the climate change.
Hydrogen
Hydrogen is a special type of gas because of its properties. Some equations of state work well with this gas, some should not be used. SIMONE fortunately is able to calculate with a multitude of formulas, so with hydrogen we recommend to use GERG-2004 and AGA8-DC92 as they seem to fit well with the NIST tables.
Several successful applications have proven SIMONE as a tool that can handle hydrogen networks including compression and leak detection and localization.
Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
Carbon Dioxide seems to be the hot topic in the gas transportation sector right now. However, there is one problematic issue with CO2 and temperature: it’s critical temperature is ~31°C, pipeline simulation can easily meet problems with solution of equation of state. SIMONE, having multiple EOS's, also contains a special one for CO2 (Span and Wagner being the authors). The solution is proven and can be used in different applications when transporting this tricky gas.
